Gurnee VW informed that because my gas light was always on, this indicated a short in the intrument cluster which would eventually cause the car to "immobolize"  Cost to fix $670.00

Took car to VW Autobarn in Mt. Prospect, Brian, the service manager, told me that all I had was a "stuck light", Yeah, rare, rare chance that the whole instrument array was bad, but not just because a gas light on.  His advice "save my money".

It pays to check things out, and Gurnee VW is the WORST nightmare, dealers make a difference.  I'll never go anywhere else than Autobarn VW in Mt. Prospect.

Anybody else had any problems with "instrument cluster"?
