First of all my sympathies to all who are experiencing their troubles, I have felt frustration with many different vehicles, though not to the extent that I read about here and on VWCortex.

I bought a 99 Passat new in 99, and have driven it for 164k.  No problems to speak of, I did just get control arms replaced for $300, but other than that, nothing really ever has gone wrong, other than a faulty antenna lead which would cost $400 to rewire, so I just listen to local radio and CDs.
