I came across your website when looking for info on VW customer satisfaction. Would you say your Jetta problem is with VW itself or individual VW dealers?

I'm thinking of buying a 2003 Jetta TDI. I test drive one from the Urbana, IL VW dealer and loved it. When I went to buy it though, their price was too high. I decided to look elsewhere to purchase one. I've requested quotes from Speedway VW in Indy, Mike Raisor Imports in Lafayette, IN, Sud's VW in Normal, IL, and Tom Wood VW in Indy. I've gotten prices back from two of them.

RUN FROM ANY VW.  They have some serious troubles.  A single-wheel donkey cart would be a better choice than any post 1989 VW/Audi product.  If you want an efficient reilaible car, look at Toyota Corolla, Prius, Echo...

Speedway is the worst VW dealer in the Indy area, followed by Dryer, then Tom Wood.  Tom is a bunch of scheisters, but aren't all car dealers?

I have a 2001 Jetta GL TDI auto.  I bought it new from Dreyer Reinbold VW in Greenwood, IN, just south of Indy.  It was in for service before 1000 miles!  It now had 34k miles on it, 2 doors won't open and the xmission is acting up.

It has had: 3 instrument clusters, 4 seat frames, 9 door lock actuators, 2 intake manifolds.  And most dealers don't stock the right oil for the TDI motor.

Go check out www.myvwlemon.com  Some threads, there, have some interesting links!

I am 8 months into Lemon proceedings, court date is coming up.

The TDI is a neat engine, but the headaches wrapped around it are not worth the gain in MPG.

BTW, I have been virtually VA/Audi exclusive for the past 30 years.  My 2001 Jetta has thrown 30 years of loyality out the window in less than 12 months of ownership.
