I bought my GTI brand new in August of 1999. The first year I drove it the window dropped in the door 3 times. The 2nd time it happened my dealership had it 4 wks. They were nice enough to give me a cheap rental and pay my payment for that month. Then it happened again that year and then again the following year. This just shouldn't happen. I have called VW corporate several times about this problem. They come across as concerned but nothing came of it. A couple of months ago I brought it in for a knocking noise in the front end. It was wheel bearings. They had worn out in the right wheel, wearing out my hub. It was covered under warranty but I had to pay for a realignment. Today 09.11.01 @ 28,000.00 miles I brought it in for a shimmy in the front end. My rear brakes are worn out and front rotors are bent. $600.00. I can't believe this. I love the car but this is crazy. I am a super patient person but this is the last straw. Be very cautious when buying a new VW. I was dead set on getting another one but after all this never again. From EComplaints
