Lemon Bug with AC Problem

I purchased a 2002 New Beetle in the fall of 2002. Since November is a cold month, I didn't really run the AC. In the spring, when the heat started, I noticed that my AC would blow hot air upon occasion. I took it to my dealer (140 miles away), they replaced a part and sent me on my way. It did the same thing on the drive back. I returned it again. To make a long story short, my bug spent three weeks of June in the shop, two weeks of July, and the entire month of August - all to correct the AC problem. In addition, I picked up my bug (supposedly fixed) on June 26, drove about 20 miles, had the AC quit again, turned around to return the car, and the car in front of me hit a recap tire on the road, which hit my front end, damaged the grill, and poked a hole in the condenser. (I now had body work, insurance companies, and deductible to deal with!) On July 31, the dealership called and told me that my car couldn't be fixed. Did I want a different one? I said yes, and the service rep said he would notify the field operations manager. This shouldn't be a problem, since I had been through such an incredibly bad experience. Well, the field manager decided I didn't need a different car, and replaced another part. After nine weeks in the shop, and $7500 later (all paid for by VW), I took my car home again on September 3. Well, September 10, I went back to the dealer to get the windows fixed, and on September 13, I returned the car yet again because the AC was blowing hot air. I have been calling VW customer car since June 18. I have sent the certified letter notifying vw that my car is a lemon. I'm still waiting to see what's going to happen next. This has been a nightmare, and it's now over yet. Finally, yesterday, the customer care person said it looked like I "needed some assistance with this." Duh. Just another vw lemon story to put on your site. Carol Sims Jackson, TN psims3@cs.com
