Passat Burning Smell

I have a 3-year old 2000 Passat that was purchased new and I have put over $3000 (with 'family discount' I might add) into at a local dealership. I had to replace a clutch at 10,000 miles due to what they called 'driver error' and currently may be facing the same problem again at 40,000. I have had my car into the dealership for a terrible burning smell which seems to be particularly bad when I am idle, in neutral, no foot on clutch with the heat on. I recently had the brakes replaced about 4 months ago and am told that they can make the same smell? I had the car looked over last week, and the dealership claimed that the smell was due to some type of leaky caps in the engine. Was the problem solved, no. I sit here a week later, not knowing what to do. They cannot seem to fix it an keep wanting me to spend more money. Any suggestions as to what this problem might be?? Please be assurred that I do NOT ride the clutch and I know how to drive a 5-speed!!!! I am not sure what my options are. The dealership knows that I will NOT spend another dime and I do not believe that they are willing to fix my vehicle. Help!:0

Wondering if anyone has reported problems with service at  Midwestern Auto Group in Dublin, Ohio?????
