Replace the brake light switch

This is a $15 part and is the culprit for the following problems:

 

EPC light is on

Can't shift out of Park easily 

Rear brake lights do not work

 

It's pretty easy to replace yourself IF you don't want to bother with the dealer, but this is a known problem and some dealerships will do the service for free (SOME).  Whether you do it yourself or have the dealer do it, it's an easy fix for something that causes so much grief.
