I have a 2000 VR6 Golf which has been into be serviced 4 times for the same recurring problem. The drivers window falls into the door - I have seen on this site that I am not alone with this problem and I think that word needs to get out that they have serious problens with their power windows in the Golf 2 door. VW will do nothing to help and I am furious - Last VW I will ever buy and I have had 4!

Patrick - You're not alone.  My passenger window clip broke.  It freaked me out.  I could not even go to the store b/c the window was stuck down.  I looked into where the window was and sure enough I saw the broken clip that everyone talks about being a piece of junk throughout posts that I've read.  Fortunately the service shop was able to get me in and replaced both the drivers side and passenger side clips.  I don't know if they replaced them with the same part or if it was "new and improved".  Hopefully I won't have anymore window problems.

Best of luck to you!

I have a 2000 VW New Beetle.  I too had a problem with my windows, in my case it was the Driver side.  I was comming back to work one day from lunch and when I rolled my window up I heard a loud pop and then the window was stuck.  I took it to my local dealer to fix and they informed me that VW knew about the problem but instead of making the info. public they fix the problem when you come in for routine maintenance.  My question was "what happens if you have your routine maintenance done somewhere other than the dealership?"  Their reply "You will know you have a problem when it breaks."  That day the dealership fixed both of my windows.  Then a fews weeks later I rolled the passenger side window down and it would come back up.  When I took it to the dealer they told me that when they fixed the window the first time the tech didn't tighten up everything.  But they were very sorry for my trouble.

My driver's side window just "broke" -- I'm taking to a dealer tomorrow -- we'll see if they fix it for free, highly unlikely - -but it's good for me know that others are experiencing the same problems - mine's a 2001 Jetta. First problem I've had
